Training Kit Recommendations
Looking to buy new training kit but don’t know where to look or which brands are best?
Here’s a quick list of my favourite brands and kit recommendations.
Lifting Belts:
There are 2 types of belt; Lever Belts (hard belts) & Weightlifting Belts (soft belts). So make sure you know which type of belt you are looking for.
Lever/Hard belts: These have a mental lever or buckle. Good for: compound lifts (squats/deadlifts). Support: Heavy
Soft belts: These have a Velcro strap. Good for: Olympic Weightlifting & compound lifts. Support: Medium
Strength Shop Lever Buckle Belt
E26 Weightlifting Belt (budget option)
Knee Sleves:
Knee sleeves come in various thicknesses, so make sure you know which thickness you are looking for.
7mm: good For lifting/heavy support
5mm: good for metcons/light support
Strength Shop 7mm Knee Sleeves
Resistance Bands:
If your gym doesn’t have resistance bands, I’d recommend getting some for your kit bag. Any brand does the job. I just buy mine from Amazon.
Chalk:
If your gym doesn’t have chalk, I’d invest in some liquid chalk. Any brand will do the job. I just buy mine from Amazon.
Lifting Straps
Any brand will do. They come it lots of different colours if you want a funky pair. Below are a few different price ranges.
Strength Shop Leopard Print Lifting Straps
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it covers the main pieces of kit. I’ll update this list with more kit soon.
